Jean-Claude and Basile have been friends for ten years. Basile is a writer; Jean-Claude, married to a Nobel jury member, is a prominent figure in Swedish cultural life.

But in November 2017, scandal erupts: Jean-Claude is accused of sexual assault by eighteen women. A chasm opens. Many high-profile figures, including the King of Sweden, become involved. For the first time since its inception, the Nobel Prize must suspend its award ceremony.
