Each year, French grants help bring French literature to Nordic readers. Explore the 2024 selection of subsidized books and publishers promoting literary diversity.

Each year, the Institut français and its partners support the publication of numerous French works translated into Nordic languages through dedicated grants. These subsidies aim to promote the circulation of contemporary French literature and foster cultural dialogue between France and the Nordic region.

The 2024 list highlights an exceptional range of authors and genres — from fiction to essays — reflecting the vitality and diversity of today’s French literary scene. Among the selected titles are Moi, Tituba, sorcière… noire de Salem by Maryse Condé, published by Batzer & Co in Denmark, and Playboy by Constance Debré, published by Vinter Forlag.

These works, supported under the PAP (Programme d’aide à la publication), illustrate the ongoing commitment to strengthening literary exchange and ensuring that French voices reach new readers across the Nordic countries.
